The Institutional Review Office has compiled this document as a guideline for general turnaround times study teams can expect for submissions to the IRB.
The turnaround times in the document below represent the goal for complete submissions. Submissions are only sent to the IRB for review after an item is considered "review ready." This means IRO staff has assessed the submission and the study team has responded to any staff-requested clarifications, to help ensure that submissions are as clear and complete as possible before formal review. This is called the screening or pre-review process. The study team’s response time impacts the overall approval timeframe.
All turnaround times are counted in business days, unless otherwise noted.
