Employee Support Resources

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers a variety of programs and resources to help employees manage many aspects of work and family life. These resources are designed to support employees when they need help or want to improve their wellbeing.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program is one of the most powerful benefits we offer, and we encourage employees and immediate family members to take advantage of this incredible resource to maintain strong health, wellness and wellbeing. The EAP is available to all Fred Hutch paid employees, regardless of hours worked or eligibility for other benefit plans. Professional, caring counselors and support resources from ComPsych can help you better cope with personal, family and work issues.

Care Resources

Back-Up Childcare/Adult Care and Additional Family Support

Bright Horizons Family Solutions program is available for all benefit-eligible employees of Fred Hutch. This benefit includes many services, such as finding quality center-based or in-home care if a childcare provider is unexpectedly unavailable, or locating in-home care to help manage daily activities if an adult relative is recovering from illness or injury.

Hutch Kids Child Care Center on Campus

The Hutch Kids Child Care Center is an independent public day care center open to all which focuses on the individuality and uniqueness of each child from infancy through preschool. Hutch Kids provides an environment that allows each child to develop at his/her own pace and activities are planned that encourage self-confidence, spontaneity, curiosity, and self-discipline, as well as assisting in the development of the child’s social and emotional health.

Postdoc/Graduate Student Childcare Subsidy

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center Postdoc/Graduate Student Childcare Subsidy Program provides eligible postdoctoral, medical fellows and graduate student parents with financial assistance to supplement basic childcare charges. Eligible fellows/students may choose among all state licensed childcare facilities. This program is open to all employees who meet the program requirements regardless of eligibility for benefit plans offered through Fred Hutch.

Other Resources

Tuition Reimbursement Program

The Fred Hutch Tuition Reimbursement Program provides financial support to all benefit-eligible staff seeking further education or professional development at an accredited university, college, program, vocational institute, or technical institute leading up to a degree or certificate supporting a Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center-related career.

Sabbaticals

Sabbatical leave can be requested by eligible Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center staff to increase professional development, perform community service, or for rejuvenation following an intense period of activity. The decision to approve a sabbatical leave is at the discretion of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center President & Director. The decision will take into consideration the merit of the employee's request, the employee's current and past performance in the job, and the budget and workload requirements of the department or program in which the employee works. This leave is available to employees who are benefit-eligible and who meet program requirements.
